Major Samantha Carter was an alternate version of Samantha Carter from an alternate reality. She was killed in 2006 when she was conducting experiences on a parallel universes' energy extractor.

Biography

Major Carter's background was the same than the main timeline Samantha Carter as for the end of the battle of Antarctica in 2003. Her fate changed at the moment the US government had to reveal the existence of the Stargate program to the world. Carter was married to Rodney McKay until they got a divorce. In 2006, she was developping a new power source for the Ancient control chair in order to help protect Earth from the Ori (SG1: "Lost City", Part 2, "The Road Not Taken").

Character's evolution

"The Road Not Taken" (2006)

Lieutenant Colonel Samantha Carter is conducting experiences on Arthur's mantle in the Stargate Command lab, surrounded by a force shield to protect from any unwilling intrusion. Suddenly, she disappears and is layed down in the lab, uncounsious. When she wakes up, Dr Bill Lee who wasn't here before calls her "Major" and asks her if she's okay because he heard an explosion. The lab's soil has traces of explosion. Carter is stunned to see Major Lorne as he was supposed to be in the Pegasus galaxy. Carter realises she is trapped in an alternate reality. While interrogated, Carter asks help to know what happened to their Carter and to be able to return to her universe. General George Hammond grants Dr. Lee to show her the footage. On the video they see the alternate Carter conducting experiences on a parallel universes' energy extractor, and a power spike occured the very moment Carter was out of phase and protected by the force shield. Carter has been sucked in the inter-universal bridge when the alternate Carter died during the capacitor overload. General Hammond makes a deal with Carter, giving her full access to the ressources of the base to come back to her universe, and continue their Carter's work to find a way to protect their Earth from the Ori.

Later, Carter learns that her alternate self got married to a "dot com millionaire smartass", a.k.a. Rodney McKay, and divorced some time after.

Following her success in protecting Earth from the Ori blast, President Hank Landry asks Carter to pretend to be their "Major Carter" in public.
