Major General Richard William Howard Vyse was a soldier, anthropologist and Egyptologist. At the time he was Colonel, he clamed to have identified the name of Khufu as the builder of the Great Pyramid of Giza.
History
During a symposium on Ancient Egypt led by Doctor Daniel Jackson, a Professor mentions the discovery of Khufu's inscription by Colonel Vyse. Jackson declares it's actually a fraud.
Notes
- Daniel Jackson's assessment about Vyse is based on a controversy in which Vyse is accused by some people to have forged Khufu's cartouche. See this section in the wikipedia's article for more information.
