The Rand Protectorate (also nicknamed Rand) is a wide country located on Tegalus. In 2004, after a coup led by Soren which triggered a full scale world war against the Caledonian Federation, both nations presumably destroyed each other in 2005.

Since several decades, there was a kind of cold war between the Rand Protectorate and the Caledonian Federation. Like Earth, both nations have weapons and missiles capable to destroy all the planet's surface (SG1: "Icon").
