Alternate timeline : Following the alteration of the timeline by Ba'al in 1939, an alternate Samantha Carter, NASA astronaut, is the Mission Commander of the space shuttle Intrepid. Following a computer failure aboard the ship, which shuts off the main engines, Carter stays behind to replace the failed autopilot while her crew are able to escape and be safe. Intrepid goes down from orbit over the Atlantic Ocean and Carter's body is never retreived. She has a national memorial service on the front lawn of the White House.
