Reginald Greer was a Gulf War veteran.
Biography
Reginal Greer was married to Angela and had a son, Ronald. Veteran of the Gulf War, the young Ronald had a tough upbringing. Greer didn't hesitate to lock him up in a closet for punishment, to throw down a wall of bricks he erected, or to abandon him during the night in an ill-famed street with no money for getting back home. According to Angela Greer, he used to be a good man before, but his behavior changed after the war. For this reason, she decided to remain with him.
Despite his hate, the young Ronald saved his father and mother when their house was on fire. Greer has been badly burned on his faced. Several years later, he has been diagnosed with a deadly brain infection (SGU: "Lost").

When Ronald Greer is trapped under the rubble on a planet, he remembers several times of this childhood with his father.
Later, near the Stargate, an hallucination of his father appears at the corner of a fire, telling Ronald Greer that he shouldn't save him from the house fire.
"Pain"
When Ronald Greer is experiencing the effects of an alien tick, his father appears and order him to shoot Camile Wray.
