Titanium is a chemical element that can be found on Earth. It has been used notably to build the first Stargate iris.
Evolution
"Children of the Gods" (1995)
When the second Abydos team comes back Earth through the Stargate, Colonel Jack O'Neill is surprised to see that an iris has closed, covering the wormhole. Major General George Hammond explains that this titanium-made iris will hopefully prevent any unwanted intrusion.
"The Enemy Within"
When the Goa'uld make several attemps to invade Stargate Command with no success, Captain Samantha Carter explains to Daniel Jackson and Jack O'Neill that the iris is made of pure titanium, positioned three micrometers from the event horizon.
