Biography

The background of the alternate McKay is the same than the main reality counterpart until they reach Atlantis in 2004. But even if the lights switch on by themselves, the control stations did not power up. He tried with Peter Grodin to connect them on an auxiliary power. Suddenly McKay urged everybody to fold back as the Atlantis shield is on the verge to collapse. He tried to dial a Pegasus address on the Stargate with a power generator with no success as the water filled already the control room. He eventually sacrificed himself in order to open the roof hatch above the Atlantis hangar bay to let the Puddle Jumpers escape.(SGA: "Before I Sleep").

Character's evolution

"Before I Sleep" (2004)

The alternate timeline Elizabeth Weir tells the Atlantis expedition Rodney McKay's fate. She then tells Rodney McKay that he never gave up, trying until the end to save lives.
