Ernest Littlefied was a scientist who worked with Professor Langford on the Stargate device around 1945. He volunteered to be the first to pass through the activated gate but has been stuck for 52 years before been rescued and brought back to Earth in 1997.

Biography

In the 40's, Ernest Littlefield took part of the research on the artifact taken by the US Air Force under the direction of Professor Paul Langford. He met and dated his daughter, Catherine and both officiously engaged together. During a meeting with Langford in which he was to ask officially the hand of his daughter, Littlefield theorized about the symbols that were not a combination but a destination like the one they found. He volunteered to pass trough the Stargate, suited with an air supplied diving suit. As a camera shot the sequence for posterity, the gate suddenly deactivated, cutting the air conduits. Langford told his daughter that his fiance died from an accident in the laboratory.

Stuck in a fortress, with a broken Dial Home Device avoiding any possible return, Littlefield lived here alone in the rhythm of the yearly storms increasing each year. He studied all different objects and rooms and wrote a diary in which he was continuously "speaking" to Catherine like she was here (SG1: "The Torment of Tantalus").
