Weterings[1] was a female US Air Force Senior Airman. She has been killed by Apophis as his Queen refused her as a host.
Biography
Nothing is known about Weterings except her rank (Senior Airman). It seems that it was the first time she was guarding the Stargate Command embarkation room as she was scared about the coming of an officer (SG1: "Children of the Gods").
Character's evolution
"Children of the Gods" (1997)
Weterings is part of the team who's guarding a tarp-covered Stargate, including Staff Sergeant McAtee, Airman First Class Fryatt, and two other airmen. First, she worries about the coming of an officier in the embarkation room as they play poker, and then, she notices that the tarp is moving. Intrigued, she leaves her teammates and walks on the ramp. Suddenly, the ramp shakes and rumbles, the tarp flies off and reveal the Stargate activating with its inner ring spinning. She comes back as a wormhole establishes and takes a weapon. She returns to the ramp, willing to touch the event horizon when suddenly, a metallic sphere drops out the Stargate and falls at her feet. The device activates, seems to scan her, and then, deactivates.
As she picks up the device, despites her teammates' warnings, a Serpent Guard comes through the Stargate, taking and holding Weterings by her neck. Others soldiers come out, one of them with a golden armor. Apophis — the golden one — ask something to Teal'c, who brings Weterings to Apophis. Apophis uses his hand device to subdue Weterings. McAtee ask the Serpent Guards to let her go, but a firefight ensues as an answer. Teal'c turns back to protect Weterings with his armor.
Soon after, the base is on full alert, and the faction prepares to move out. Major General Hammond comes in the embarkation room and ask to not open fire as he sees Weterings. Then, Apophis, Teal'c and Weterings pass through the Stargate.
On Chulak, inside the Apophis palace harem, Weterings is choosed by Teal'c and brought inside another room. Apophis is here, finding her lovely and beautiful, using once more his hand device to subdue her. Guards remove her clothes and take her on an autel. Apophis asks a female Jaffa to come. She reveals a pouch on her belly, where a Goa'uld symbiote comes out. The symbiote checks Weterings, but comes back into the pouch. Disappointed, Apophis uses his hand device to kill Weterings and asks Teal'c to send another.
Notes
- Weterings' last name wasn't sure until the 2009's recut of "Children of the Gods" shows her full last name on screen.[1] We can only see "eterings" on the original episode. The novelization of "Children of the Gods" names her "Carol Ketering" but this name is not recognized as part of the Stargate canon and thus, is part of a separate continuity.
- Weterings claims she's a Sergeant of the United State Air Force when she's brought in the implantation room. However, her visible rank seen a the beginning of the episode is Senior Airman. This is a factual error.
- Weterings' nationality is deducted as she's part of the United States Air Force.
- The harem scene doesn't appear anymore in Stargate SG-1: Children of the Gods - Final Cut, the recut version of "Children of the Gods".
