Biography

Nya is the daughter of Turghan, feared and respected Toughai's chieftain. Like all women on Simarka, she is not free to choose and has been promised to Chimakka, desert warlord, to make an alliance with Turghan. Yet she is secretly in love with Abu, son of Moughal of the Shavadai (SG1: "Emancipation").

Character's evolution

"Emancipation" (1997)

Abu, Moughal's son, kidnaps Captain Samantha Carter in the hope to trade her to Turghan, a chieftain. Once in the village, he tries to trade her for Nya but Turghan refuses and proposes instead 300 weights of gold, take it or he dies. Abu accepts reluctantly but tries to free Nya during the next night. She is caught back by the village's men. Because of her crime, she is sentenced to be stoned to death, yet she is freed by an ancestral law, where Carter fight Turghan. Eventually, Carter wins and obtains an unconditional freedom for Nya who is free to marry who she wants. Nya comes back with Abu in the Shavadai's village and prepares a wedding ceremony which will last for six days.
