Major General George Hammond schedules to retire one month before Stargate program starts.	SG1: "Within the Serpent's Grasp"
Over a year after the first Abydos mission, the Project Giza is dead, the US Air Force is shipping personnel for months. Suddenly, the Goa'uld System Lord Apophis comes through the gate in Stargate Command, kill four US airmen and kidnap Senior Airman Weterings. Major General Hammond calls back a retired Colonel Jack O'Neill, forcing him to admit that Doctor Daniel Jackson is still alive on Abydos. A second recon mission is sent on Abydos, but Apophis forces are there too and kidnap Sha're, Jackson's wife, and Skaara, his brother. Jackson is brought back on Earth. The President of the United States green-lights the Stargate Program, consisting of nine SG teams who must determine any threat against Earth, find technology to fight this new enemy, and, if possible make alliances with alien populations. Colonel O'Neill leads SG-1 with Captain Samantha Carter and Doctor Daniel Jackson as teammates, and Major Charles Kawalsky SG-2. February 10: On Chulak, a planet found thanks to Major Ferretti's observation, SG-1 are taken prisoner by Apophis. Colonel O'Neill persuades Teal'c, Apophis' First Prime, to let them go. As an answer, Teal'c shoots his own Serpent Guards. Sha're and Skaara are possessed by Goa'uld symbiotes and leave the planet with Apophis.	SG1: "Children of the Gods" "Politics"
While they're fighting the Serpent guards on Chulak, a Goa'uld larva slowly takes Major Charles Kawalsky as host. Doctor Warner does surgery to remove the symbiote but fails. Teal'c fights the Goa'uld and the latter (as well as Kawalsky) dies when the Stargate's wormhole disengages while he as a part of the head in the puddle. Teal'c joins SG-1 as fourth member, following the recommendation previously made by Colonel O'Neill.	SG1: "Children of the Gods", "The Enemy Within"
SG-1 visit a planet populated by the descendants of Earth Monghol tribes, using ancestral laws that are not favorable to women. Thanks to Captain Samantha Carter, one of the local chieftains, Moughal, sets his own women free among his people.	SG1: "Emancipation"
March: When they visit the only planet referenced on the Abydos cartouche chamber matching the few symbols seen by the refugees of Chulak, SG-1 and SG-3 bring back to Earth a very contagious disease transforming them and almost all Stargate Command personnel into primitive bestial beings. Thanks to Doctor Fraiser, a cure is found and all the personnel and some Touched are healed. Colonel O'Neill shows the Untouched population the way to cure the remaining Touched. After several weeks on a planet to study the locals, SG-9 commander, Captain Jonas Hanson, eventually poses himself as a god, promising them to provide a sky orange to protect them from the deadly ultra violet radiation. Lieutenant Connor and his anthropologist friend Frakes attempt to warn Stargate Command. Frakes is murdered by Hanson. SG-1 arrive on the planet, manage to free the locals, and enables a solar radiation shield device.	SG1: "The First Commandment"
